Down a dark hall book5/24/2023 ![]() She knew that she dreamed, for when she woke in the mornings the feeling of the dreams still clung to the edges of her mind, and yet in most cases she could not remember what they had been. The light at the end of the hall had not been fixed-"It's almost impossible to get electricians to come out this far," Madame explained apologetically-and though Kit's own room was often lightened by moonlight, she could not shut out a strange nervousness about the oppressive darkness on the far side of her closed door. Although she had been at the school for well over a week now and was adjusting well on most counts, she still did not feel at ease at night. If she had been at home with her light on at this hour her mother would have been rapping at the door, calling in a worried voice, "Kit? Is anything wrong, honey? It's much too late for you to be up."Īt Blackwood nobody sounded a lights-off curfew, and Kit was glad. ![]() She knew it was late to be writing letters. It was twelve-thirty-half past midnight-on the eighth day of September, and Kit lay sprawled across the bed, writing a letter to Tracy. ![]()

The legend of the indian paintbrush book5/24/2023 ![]() This is also part of a series called Legends about the legend of how some things come to be this is the 3rd book I have read in that series. It's much better than Tomie usually does for his people. He found the canvas and spent years looking for the right colors After a dream, he does find the colors he needs to paint the sky. He was also told he would paint the colors of the sky and this would be his most important work. During his manhood ritual he was giving the task of painting the warriors hunt and the villages stories so they would always be remembered. There was an Indian who wanted to be a warrior like everyone else, but he had the gift of an artist. This is a legend/myth on how those flowers came to be there (and I do love a story or folktale about that.) ![]() Today, I learned that Indian Paintbrush is a wildflower on the hills in Wyoming. ![]()

The aztec gary jennings5/24/2023 ![]() ![]() Therefore, in order to establish a seemingly coherent plot of the past that would overcome fragmentation and chaos, the indigenous witnesses appearing in our sources relied heavily on unique visual schemata that assisted them in assembling the mental shreds and remnants of past experiences to restore them within the traditional framework and formulae of information transmission only modestly affected by the Spanish conquest. It emphasizes that early colonial Cohuixca testimonies were deeply influenced by what are called, in Western terms, cadastral maps or cartographic histories or, in Nahuatl, amoxtli tlalamatl altepeamatl (" land papers, " titles of each town and district) in the former Cohuixca province of Tepecoacuilco (Cohuixcatlacapan), these geographical elements being heavily reinforced by oral retelling. The third volume in Gary Jennings historical epic that began with the Aztec and Aztec Autumn. To do so, it introduces a qualitative methodological approach into ethnohistory, which discerns pervasive patterns of special understanding that guided indigenous testimony in the Colonial Spanish courtroom.
